22nd January 2007

Good weekend; Friday night I stayed in and watched the telly. That was quite nice. I had a bottle of wine and watched the ridiculousness of Jade’s Big Brother eviction unfold before my eyes. She’s such a stupid girl, it’s amazing quite how much trouble a bit of stupidity can get you in these days; I can think of a few people I know that would probably cause the same amount of uproar, if not worse, put in that position. Which is worrying.

So anyway, Saturday was an all-dayer at my Mum and Dad’s house for Simon’s 18th. Family started to arrive at midday and I had my first glass of wine at 1. I really do enjoy these occasional family get-togethers; I think it’s probably because it’s occasional. If they happened more often then I think the little grating things that are hidden in the background would suddenly jump into the forefront and I’d become annoyed. Was good fun though, and plans were made for the summer with Jen and Tim etc to have a boozy weekend at the caravan. Geoff turned up just as all the young hairy people started to arrive after 7, by which time I was feeling very loose and frivolous due to all the wine and beer consumed. Had a good chat about Flat 5 and Johnny Arrow, strange that Geoff and I seem to have the same feelings about things and they seem to change in tandem with each other. I think he has stronger feelings about Flat 5 than me, however, but we’re both still pointing in the same direction.

Gareth and Chris turned up just as Geoff was leaving, about 10. They must have been drinking before they came round because they seemed to be in the same physical state as me. They are such great people to have a party together because they can be such a double act and so funny. I can just remember Gareth throwing banter at my Mum and Bethan, which I think took them aback at first. Hit the Agincourt about midnight for a couple of hours, which I really shouldn’t have done, to be honest, but it was nice to see Laura and Jo. Chris and Gareth I think drank themselves silly and I was left to get a taxi back on my own. Simon and Mum were kind enough to reserve the spare bedroom for me and I had a good night’s sleep.

Felt terrible on Sunday but spent most of it asleep on the sofa at Arrow Towers and watching Arsenal vs Man Utd; which was quite comedy. I’m torn this year about who I want to win the title- I really can’t win! Chelsea or Man Utd - who are the bigger shits? Chelsea probably, but I won’t be celebrating if Man Utd win it. It would be nice to have a close nail biting title race though at the end of the season, so I was cheering for Arsenal yesterday.

Went to the Empress Garden (again) last night with all the family and Rachel and Dave. The mood was pretty subdued which is to be expected after a big Saturday session. I need to stop eating so much and get fit. So many pictures taken recently and I don’t like what I see.
