I’ve been reading through my old posts today (slow day at work) and was astonished at how regular this thing used to be updated. It reminded me of the point of this thing, which is to act like a diary of my life, rather than just a wall for my thoughts and everything. SO I am going to try to get back to how it was and keep it good and updated.
It’s a difficult thing because this blogging lark can all be construed as a bit self involved, and a bit dull. Why would anyone want to know what I get up to everyday? Why is this important to do? Personally, for me, I see this as a diary to keep for myself, to remind me of what I’ve done. I am rubbish at keeping actual diaries, I generally tend to get to about February and then give up, but I think it’s important to document your life in some way. At least with a public blog there’s a potential audience there, so one tries to keep it going. Anyway.
Last night I went out with Gemma Smith in Reading. She’s down for the week doing a course in London, staying with her sister in Burghfield which is just outside town. Gemma’s great fun, and she hasn’t changed at all since she was 16. It’s mental – she is actually still the same person. It’s quite refreshing actually, usually you meet up with people after a long period apart and they’ve been shaped and eroded by time, but not Gemma. We went for a drink in The Oakford, then to 0degrees for a pizza (recommended), and then for a dirty cider and black in the Purple Turtle. She didn’t stay out late – got the bus home at about 9.30 (even though I tried to insist she got a taxi) – and I met up with Al for a couple of beers in Ha Ha. When we got in, High Fidelity was on, so ended up drinking another beer in front of that.
I felt pretty rough this morning, and had to buy a bottle of water on the walk to the station to settle my stomach. Work is a bit strange at the moment, I’m pretty much running the department myself as the boss is away and we haven’t recruited anyone else yet. It’s a good opportunity for me to show what I can do I suppose, but I just have no passion for it.
Oh well.
keeping up with what i'm up to, but sporadically and with less grammar than before
