OK, well the gauntlet has been thrown down by my old friend Rich, I am going to write a novel in 30 days in November.
I’ve signed up to this website here, it looks pretty awesome, and will give me a creative endeavour to go for next month. Awesome. I was considering using those few paragraphs that I wrote a few months ago as a starting point, but is that cheating? What do we reckon?
Rich, the game is on!
(PS. Please see updated links to the left there – I’ve added Rich and Lee to my colony of fellow timewasters)
keeping up with what i'm up to, but sporadically and with less grammar than before

Glad to see you're up for it! Should be punishing but fun.
Ironically, my participation may have been dealt a serious blow today.
We were due to have finished shooting the series by then, but have just been told that ITV may want more episodes straight away. We'll have to see!
RE: using stuff you've written already - yes, that's considered cheating. Apparently you're allowed to plot out your structure and character bios etc in advance, but write no prose until day one.
At the end of the day, you'd only be cheating yourself!
Good luck Jof, and good luck to Rich too, I can't wait to read the end results, may I suggest a boy wizard called Barry Spotter, who flys on a broomstick, would make a good story.
The main point being, Good Luck!!! it's gonna be tough.
Ooooh good luck matey! A mate of mine did something similar last year and she really enjoyed it. Totally blows away all the cobwebs and gets you focussed.
And I don't think it's cheating. I'm sure the rules are pretty lax in that respect to ensure upmost creative flow and all that malarky.
what you could do is find a really obscure book in a book shop, a book that no one has ever head of and just copy that! I know every one is going to say, "you're only cheating yourself" but fuck it, if it gets to November 29th and you've written 'Chapter one' then I suggest you cheat, just looking at the big picture!
Well I was thinking of just copy/pasting your blog and linking the rants together somehow. You've been writing it for 2 years now? I reackon that's a good fifth of what I need to write. Might need to be R rated though.
Go for it, you may need to add some more swear words to make it more realistic, you could call it 'Colin: a life without words' or 'Colin: English is his second language, bad language is his first)'
or you could use that finely tuned imagination of yours and write a story, maybe about death and killing!!!!!
I reckon Col should do it too. I'd have a bash but it's hard enough to find time to work on my side projects as it is (and it'd ultimately end up being some story about giant fish that live in sheds or something).
Good luck Jof & Rich!
I'd hate the pressure, and you know full well that it'd be sick and disturbing, there may be a new woggzeh short story soon though, been working on a few ideas.
