Last night went to see Calibre in Guildford. Turned up at The Star ten minutes before they went on, spoke to a nervous Mike and Scott and then went and found Simon by the stage. Chatted to him and then stood watching the gig with Rachel. The Star’s not a bad venue, quite small but there wasn’t too many people there to begin with so it wasn’t uncomfortable. Reminded me, actually, of the basketball court upstairs at Harrogate Grammar School, although it was nothing like it. You know when you just get a feeling? Anyway, they played a cracking set- a bit short- Simon told me they were offered 45 minutes but they only played 25, apparently recently there’s been a lack of commitment from some people, which is a shame. They played the same set that I saw them do last spring. I wish I had the time and money to be their manager, I’d be proud to represent them.
The band that were on afterwards were…well…I don’t know. They played pretty much shouty emo. Well, I don’t know. I suppose it was like all the shouty bits of Life As Is all put together, minus the melodic bits, and stretched out over 45 minutes. I’m at a loss to have an opinion on it to be honest, because I couldn’t make head nor tail of it. I have no idea how you’d write songs like they played and I couldn’t have taken much more than 45 minutes of it. Still, they were pretty entertaining, throwing themselves about and that.
I’ve got too many in fingers in too many pies at the moment- with the flat, and I said I’d do a preview of Jubb's gig in Reading for Josaka, plus I want to get back doing Johnny Arrow, and there’s something else as well (which I will mention at a later date). Blimey.
Looks like Chris B is coming over on Saturday for the party at the football club, which is top notch. Had a dream last night about playing football and then Michael Palin and Terry Jones came over and sang some songs that everyone knew except me; “You can’t get fitter than a VD clinic” was one of them. Weird.
keeping up with what i'm up to, but sporadically and with less grammar than before

Maybe your twisted mind was thinking of the catchy but annoying KwikFit ad, but peppered with references to STDs.
I know how your mind works.
