Went round Adam and Becky’s on Friday night for fajitas (amazing, as always- Maiders is such a good cook), and to watch The Departed. Was really impressed, although trying to watch a film with a relatively complex narrative whilst sitting with Chris and Baz can be a bit of a struggle! I love them both though, of course. Ended up being quite an early night, got back to Mum’s about 11.30. Had to sleep in the living room as Rachel was staying over. Rachel seems to be a permanent fixture in that house at the moment, I think Mum finds it a little frustrating on occasion, and the number of times I’ve come over for an evening and found Simon and Rachel stretched out on the sofa, in control of the telly, with Mum exiled to the chair in the corner of the room. It sometimes looks like she is the visitor, and I hope Simon considers the situation. I’m sure he does, he’s a clever lad. Cleverer than me sometimes.
Saturday was supposed to be the big game between the Devels and their main title rivals, Bentley. However, it was called off (it was too sunny or something) so the lads spent all day getting drunk. I stayed at home, getting ready for the Flat 5 gig that night and at 5.30 went to set up and soundcheck at South Hill Park. After a surprisingly stress-free set up, I went home to eat some quiche and get changed. When I returned to SHP at 9, a big load of my friends were there, absolutely smashed out of their faces. The gig went well, punctuated by Ally dropping a pint of snakebite all over the floor, chants of “we want flat 5” from Stav at high volume, Chris knocking over Justin’s mic, Stav trying to get on stage while we were playing and ended by Chris and Ally falling into and breaking the bar.
